BELGRADE, DECEMBERA 23 /SRNA/ - Genocide was committed against Serbs in the 20th century and false accusations that they committed crimes during the disintegration of Yugoslavia were part of a campaign of great powers to justify their invasion goals, says a former Finish Social Democrat Pirkko Turpeinen.

A renowned psychiatrist, Turpeinen was a member of the Finish parliament and an expert associate with the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment of the Council of Europe.

She gained public prominence by her support to General Ratko Mladić, about which she wrote a book, and is now finishing a new study about a series of events that marked the disintegration of ex-Yugoslavia.

Among them is the Račak case, a cause for NATO’s aggression on Serbia two decades ago.

Turpeinen told the Vesti Online web portal that the Račak case was just one in a series of provocations against Serbs.

"That is why my next book will be the history of the Holocaust and genocide against Serbs, both during World War II and during the 1990s wars and NATO’s occupation of Kosovo,” she emphasised.

Turpeinen says that at the invitation of the then FR Yugoslavia President Slobodan Milošević to send a team of experts to establish the circumstances of killings in Račak, for some reason the Finish foreign ministry appointed Helena Ranta, instead of, say, Professor Anti Pentil, a distinguished forensic pathologist.

"The problem is that Ranta was not competent to establish the facts. Her actual responsibility was to examine autopsy reports made by pathologists, but she failed to do that. Instead, she said what she had been instructed to say by the Finish and German foreign ministries. What she said had nothing to do with the truth,” underlined Turpeinen and noted that Ranta was actually a dentist.

Despite the fact that autopsy results were covered up, two years later, experts, including Professor Pentila, had an opportunity to study the documentation and publish their findings in a scientific journal, said the Finish politician.

"It was a journal of my colleagues, forensic pathologists. It turned out that Ranta and her colleagues had betrayed the truth,” added Turpeinen.

When asked what she concluded examining the case, she replied that medical facts and data about a police operation attempting to throw terrorists out from the village had never been concealed, yet transparent.

"Besides, numerous TV crews, OSCE observers, etc., could see that for themselves. They were all present since it was exactly the Serbian police that invited them to see for themselves what had gone down in Račak on January 15, 1999," said Turpeinen.

She recalled that the United States and Germany, together with other NATO member states, had planned to occupy the entire Yugoslavia.

"That is unequivocally shown by Annex B of the Rambouillet Agreement. Let me remind you that NATO member states had already blackmailed Yugoslavia with economic sanctions and those threats had been made ever since 1992. However, the country managed to survive. That is why the NATO countries no longer saw any alternative to their plan, except for physically conquering the territory by bombing. The United States wanted to form a military base in Kosovo and that’s exactly what they did,” she underlined.

According to her, the Western countries are dominated by propaganda.

"There is plenty of scientific evidence and books telling the truth, however, prevalent is the propaganda of NATO media, which has already reached the film industry, literature and sports too. Serbs need to have their side of the truth heard, through films like the one about Jasenovac or appearances by prominent figure, such as the Nobel Laureate Peter Handke,” believes Turpeinen.
